"He's Back" - Lacey Comes
From Behind To Win Lafayette "Big Quig" Event
25 June 2000 - Lafayette, IN - Kevin Lacey didn't like the next
course on the Great Lakes Tour so he motored to Lafayette, Indiana to
play his second event on the Indiana tour. It was a good move, as Lacey
came from 4 shots down in the final round to shoot a 25 under par 119
and win his second tour event. Lacey carded an 8 under par 28, while the
leader after the third round, Shawn Gilliland of Indianapolis, backed up
"big time" with an even par 38. In the match play event, Tom
Gross of Columbus defeated Mark Quigley 1-up 36 holes to win his first
match play event.
John Howard Cruises In Lafayette
John Howard won the amateur event at Lafayette shooting a 12 under
par 132. Howard, who had not played since the first event in Terre
Haute, took a four shot lead after 18 holes and never looked back. His 6
under par 30 was the low 18 of the 4 round tournament. Donny Quigley
picked it up a notch in the amateur match play event beating Howard in
the 36 hole final. The next stop on the 2000 IPPA tour will be Terre
Haute Course #2 on July 9th.
