Jim Bryant's First Win is a Big One - 2000 Indiana State Championship

20 August 2000 - Indianapolis, IN - Since 1997 Jim Bryant of Clayton, Indiana has worked to organized the Indiana State Putt-Putt Championship. Beginning this year his best finish in a state championship was 7th in 1998. Today Jim Bryant put together 6 solid rounds of Putt-Putt golf and won the 2000 Indiana State Stroke Play Championship. Bryant shot a career best total of 45 under par 171 with rounds of 25, 26, 32, 30, 28 and 30. Charlie Greenwalt of Indianapolis finished strong with a final round 10 under par 26 to place second, 2 strokes back at 173. Kevin Lacey of Cincinnati, Ohio finished third with a 42 under par 174. A total of 14 professional putters competed in the stroke play competition on course #1 at the 34th and High School Road Putt-Putt in Indianapolis.

Vicki Chinn of Greenwood fired a 4 under par 32 in a 3-way 18 hole play off to Capture the 2000 Indiana State Amateur Stroke Play Championship. Chinn, Dave Hager of Southport and John Watkins of Southport all finished the 6 round event tied at 24 under par 192. Hager shot a 3 under 33 while Watkins could only muster a 2 under par 34. The victory is Chinn's second on the 2000 tour and her second Indiana State Amateur Stroke Play Championship. She last won the title in 1998 at The 34th Street Putt-Putt on course #2.

The Columbus/Cincinnati Pro/Am team captured the 2000 Indiana State Pro/Am Team Championship with a 128 under par score of 520. Team members included National Touring Pros Kevin Lacey and Tom Gross, Indiana Pro Jim Bryant and Ohio Amateur Robin Ventura. Indianapolis finished second 14 shots back at 534. Terre Haute/Lafayette finished third with a 562 total.

In the Amateur/Novice Team Event Vicki Chinn of Greenwood and Dave Hager of Southport fired a 24 under par 84 to claim a one shot victory. John Watkins and Scott McCutcheon of Southport finished second with an 85. The Columbus duo of Nate Nichols and Mike Moon finished third with an 86.
