Lacey Sweeps Columbus Sets New
Course Record
21 May 2000 - Columbus, IN - Kevin
Lacey saved his best for last at the 2nd stop of the 2000 IPPA Tour
in Columbus. Lacey, trailing by one shot after 54 holes left little
doubt who would win the event by carding a new course record 22 on
course one at Miller's Putt-Putt. His feat included 11 straight aces on
the "Old Style" Putt-Putt carpet making it even more amazing.
He finished the Kevin Lacey event with a 28 under par 116, 12 shots
ahead of Tom Gross of Columbus. Lacey topped his course record by
sweeping through the match play competition defeating Jim Garrison in
the finals 1-up 37 holes.
Mike Lebeda of Terre Haute came from one shot down to win the amateur
division of the IPPA Tour's Columbus stop. Lebeda trailed Bill Hammons
of Southport by one shot after 54 holes and then carded an 8 under par
28 to win the event by 7 strokes. Lebeda's 10 under par 134 would have
tied him for 4th place in the Professional division. Lebeda made it a
clean sweep defeating Sean Clark in the finals of the Amateur Match Play
competition.
The next stop on the 2000 IPPA tour will be Southport
on June 11th, 2000.
