Buddy Taylor Wins Virginia Event in Charlottesville,
VA
Charlottesville, VA - Leading by a
single stroke after 36-holes of play, Buddy Taylor's final
round of 31, 5-under par, was good enough to secure his first victory of 1999 on the
Virginia State Tour. Buddy Taylor's total of 90, 18-under par, on the Charlottesville, VA
course was enough to hold off a group of four players at 91, 17-under par, that included Brad Lebo, defending
tournament champion, Dave
Taylor, Danny
McCaslin, and Bo
Luthie.
With windy conditions, the scoring at the Charlottesville course was high
with a low round of 28, 8-under par, posted in the professional field by Dave Taylor,
Danny McCaslin, Buddy Taylor, and Bo Luthie. The professional two-person team competition
was won by the team of Buddy Taylor and Dave Taylor who combined for a total of 181,
35-under par, and a 4-stroke victory over the team of Rusty Taylor and Danny
McCaslin.
In the amateur field, Gil Logan continued his hot play of late by winning
by one stroke over Wesley Pollard. Logan's total of 92, 16-under par, bettered Pollard's
total of 93 and placed the two amateurs well ahead of the rest of the amateur field.
Walter Kolb, who finished tied for fourth, was able to match the tournament best round of
28, 8-under par, in his second round but found trouble in his first and third rounds and
was only able to shoot 99, 9-under par, for the tournament.
