Mike Brown Wins Rock Hill, SC Event on SC Tour

brown.jpg (7694 bytes)Rock Hill, SC - On Sunday, the winds kicked up and scores rose generally, except for the leaders. Three people shot 76, Mike Brown, Andy Coradini, and Robert Johnson. Mike Brown then fell one stroke short of the course record in the playoff, shooting a 22 en-route to a comfortable victory. Brown became the second qualifier for the SC State Championship, and Robert Johnson was the third, grabbing the spot for the low two-day total. Despite not winning either day, Kevin Lacey is now the points leader in 3 tours (NC, VA, and SC). The quality of the weekend's field is reflected in the early top ten points leaders, four of them are former National Champions.

This was Mike Brown's first win on the SC tour, as well as the lowest three-round total for him. With the three players on Sunday, the SC tour has now seen someone shoot in the 70's a total of 77 times. Oddly enough, 76 is not the career low for Coradini and Johnson. They shot 74 and 75 last year, respectively, in Suwanee, GA.

The next events on the Virginia tour will occur in Richmond, Virginia on April 10 and 11. The next North Carolina events will occur on April 17 in Lumberton, NC and on April 18 in White Lake, NC. The South Carolina tour will next be in action on May 1 and 2 at the Martinez, GA course.
