Open by One After First-Day
Albany, Georgia - June 12, 1999 - Greg
Ward used a third round of 23, 13-under par, to pass the five players tied after
two-rounds at 52, 20-under par and lead the Southern Open after three-rounds with a 76,
32-under par. Ward's fourth round of 27, 9-under par, placed him one-stroke ahead of Tom
Butler and two-strokes ahead of Tony Jackson.
Average scores by round were 27.90, 28.67, 28.35, and 28.81 respectively.
Scoring on course 1 averaged 28.12 versus 28.74 on course 2. The scores increased slightly
in the third and fourth rounds as the temperatures heated up and the winds came up
slightly.
William Glisson shot 110, 34-under par, and leads the APA
Division of the
1999 Southern Open by three-strokes over Donnie Carpenter and by five-strokes over Ray
Guthrie. |
