Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout Rules for Play
All play will be governed by the PPA official rulebook. The following
rules are a supplement to the official rulebook to assist in governing play during the
1999 Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout tournament. In accordance with the official rulebook of
the PPA, all decisions of the tournament director will be final.
The prize money will be three thousand dollars ($3,000.00). The winner
of the tournament will claim the entire purse.
Thirty-three players (33) have qualified for the event and no other
players will be admitted.
During competition, players will be eliminated from play upon any
occurrence of the following:
A player commits any rule infraction as so specified in the PPA
rulebook.
A player takes the highest number of strokes on a hole of play. The
furthest linear distance between the front edge of the cup to the player's ball on their
last shot will determine tie scores on every hole.
Eighteen (18) players will advance to the television taping of the 1999
Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout. Those eighteen (18) players will be determined by process
of elimination in a three (3) hole play-down on the morning of the tournament prior to the
television taping of the 1999 Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout.
A maximum of five (5) players per hole will be eliminated from the
play-down until only eighteen (18) players remain in the 1999 Putt-Putt Challenger
Shootout competition.
After the final eighteen (18) players have been determined for the 1999
Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout, one (1) player will eliminated on each hole until a winner
is determined.
Each of the eighteen (18) players remaining in the 1999 Putt-Putt
Challenger Shootout agree to play for a representative of the 1999 Dogwood festival. The
eventual winner of the Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout will also earn $1,000 for a matched
fan as a result of this draw.
Participants in the 1999 Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout will be announced
from the first tee in seed order. That order will be determined by their score and date of
round for their medalist qualifying round that earned them entry into the 1999 Putt-Putt
Challenger Shootout.
Honors on each successive hole of play in the 1999 Putt-Putt Challenger
Shootout will cycle to the next highest-ranking player who has not been eliminated from
play.
* A player's badge designating those players competing in the
1999 Putt-Putt Challenger Shootout will be sent to those players who have qualified under
a separate cover.
