Paul Johns Wins Great Lakes Event at Willoughby, OH

- Sunday was another clear hot day. Paul
Johns, a 1999 National Pro, bested the field at the Willoughby Putt-Putt Golf Course
in the 2nd Great Lakes Tournament of 1999. Johns shot 79, 29-under par, to clip
1999 National Pros Tom Butler. Butler
shot 81, 27-under par, and was alone in second place.
In the Sunday 16-player match play Tom Butler once again bested the
field and won the match-play finals. Butler has secured both spots for the finals. An
indication of Butlers match play ability, he is on a 16 match-play winning streak in
the state tournaments.
Jeff Brown bested the APA field at the Willoughby Putt-Putt Golf Course
in the 2nd Great Lakes Tournament of 1999. Brown shot 86, 22-under par and Mike
Bell shot 89, 19-under par for second place honors.
In the Sunday match play final Robin Ventura defeated Mike Conklin on the 4th
hole of sudden death and she qualified for the Great Lakes finals. The Great Lakes Tour
resumes action on May 15-16 in Erie, PA.
