John Ventura Posts One-Stroke Victory in Middletown, OH Event
Middletown, OH - On what turned out to be a humid and rainy afternoon, John Ventura of Cincinnati held off Rich Gillooly for his first victory of the Great Lakes Region. John held the lead after the second round and after the beginning of the third round the heavens opened up. The tourney was held up for about 30 minutes while the water could be cleared from the course, John struggled to shoot a 31 his last round, making the last hole of the competition for him to win the match. Rich Gillooly, the hottest player on the Great Lakes tour presently, just missed his final hole to end up one stroke behind Ventura.
In the match play portion of the day, Kevin Lacey of Cincinnati, out gunned John Ventura in the finals to win his second match play tourney of the year. Using a hurried type tactic, Kevin took over after the first four holes and never looked back. Article and scores provided by John Ventura |
