Peter Neumann Wins $1,500 Webster Open

neumann.jpg (7415 bytes)Webster, TX - Peter Neumann, playing in the first group off the tee, surged to a lead he would hold the rest of the day with a perfect nine to start the tournament. Neumann's first round of 23, 13-under par, gave him a two-stroke lead over Rick Alessi and Dan Anders after the first round. Following a 29, 7-under par, in the second round, Neumann once again got hot shooting a 25, 11-under par to end the day with a five-stroke lead over Danny Dore and Randy Orr. Danny Dore carded a 23, 13-under par, in the third round to climb into the second place tie.

The win by Neumann was his second consecutive National Tournament victory following his win in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 9th, 1996 in the Charlotte Open.
