Mike Brown Wins the $2,000 Orange Lake Open
Orlando, FL -Trailing the leader, Brad Lebo, by three-strokes
entering the third and final round of the 1996 Orange Lake Open, Mike Brown fired his
second consecutive round of 26, 10-under par, for a total of 80, 28-under par. Brown's
three round score proved to be good enough to win the 1996 Orange Lake Open and the
$250.00 first place purse.
Leader after two-rounds, Brad Lebo, struggled in his third round with a
31, 5-under par, and had to settle for a tie for fourth place with Greg Newport at 82.
Tied for second at 81 were Todd Barfield and Robert Johnson. Rounding out the top ten were
Dean Dwiggins, Roger Beckerman, and Bob Haizlip tied for sixth place with scores of 83 and
Peter Neumann, Jim Christina, Danny McCaslin, David McCaslin, Andy Coradini, and Angelo
Korogianos all tied ninth place with scores of 84.
In the amateur division, Clayton Craft dominated the APA field shooting
rounds of 27, 28, 27 for a three round total of 82, 26-under par, and a five stroke
victory over his nearest APA competitor, Brian Martin of Spartanburg, SC. Rounding out the
top five in the APA field were Craig Smith, Chris Morrison, and Jim Cruse, Jr.
