Peter Neumann Wins $1,500 Charlotte Open

Peter Neumann broke out
of a tie with Todd
Barfield at the end of two rounds and held off a late run by
Dan Anders to win the
$1,500 Charlotte Open held on Sunday, June 9th, 1996.
The win is Peter Neumann's second national tournament victory. His first
national tournament win came in 1990 in the
Columbus Open, a $2,000 warm-up event
prior to the 1990 National Championship in Columbus, Ohio. The Albemarle Road course in
Charlotte, North Carolina has a history of low scores. The
Carolinas' Open held on the course in
1981 produced a score of 196, 92-under par, by then amateur
David McCaslin
approaching the world record score for eight rounds of 95-under par, 193, shot by Daryl
Freeman in the 1973 National Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
