Greg Newport Wins $1,500 Charlotte Open
Both Dean Dwiggins and Kevin Lacey, tied with Newport after two rounds, were only able to shoot 9-under par, 27, in their final rounds and finished in a third place tie with Danny Dore and Randy Reeves. Larry Simpson, two stroke off the lead entering the final round, shot a 24, 12-under par, to finish in second place. Greg Newport earned $250 for his first place finish and valuable points for the year-end television playoffs to be held at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in September 1996. Tournament Recap
