Greg Ward Wins 1988 Knoxville Open

Knoxville, TN - 1 July 1988 - On Friday, July 1st, the second of the $2,000 tournaments was played. Greg Ward and Rick Shelton of Abilene, Texas tied for 1st place with a three round score of 77, 31 under par. In an 18-hole playoff that followed, Ward defeated Shelton by four strokes, 25 to 29, to capture the $300 first place prize.

In the APA division, local putter Nathan Anderson, took 1st place honors with a two-stroke victory over Michael Marsh, of Columbus, Ohio. Anderson's three-round score was 84, 24 under par.
