from Indianapolis, Indiana, became a two-time winner of this Match Play
Tournament by defeating Greg Ward 5 and 4 in the final match of this 36-hole
match, single elimination event. Greenwalt defeated Robert Johnson 4-3; Gary
Glasscock 4-3; Rick Tobias 5-4; Jim Schafer 4-3; Dave Taylor 6-5; Robbie Vaughn
7-6 and Ward to win the title and the $1,500 first place prize.
Michael Foster of High Point, North Carolina defeated Joe Shirey of Houston,
Texas in the final match to win the APA division of the Match Play Classic.
Foster defeated Lynn Titchell 8-6; Freddy Pergesen 5-3, Bryon Jordan 1 up;
Richard Zack 6-4; David Lynch 1 up; and Joe Shirey to win his first major APA
title.
In the novice division,
Lance Perdue of Chapel
Hill, North Carolina defeated Harold Burch of Charlottesville, Virginia in the
final match to win the novice division title. |
