Championship
Knoxville, TN --- July 2-3, 1988 - At this
year's National Championship, PPA members from twenty-one states and Australia
were represented.
Ron Frederick, a native of Toledo, Ohio, now living in Los
Alimitos, California, won the Pro Division of the 1988 PPA National Championship.
Frederick, five strokes behind the leaders after the first day of competition,
posted a final score of 224, 64 under par and then waited while the first day
leaders played their final holes of competition.

Parker, of Stafford, Texas and John Napoli, of Columbus, Ohio, had an
opportunity with an ace to tie Frederick and force an 18-hole playoff. Both
players missed, however, giving Frederick his first National Championship title.
Frederick's other major titles include the 1982 and 1987
Match Play Tournaments and the 1982 PPA Putter of the Year.
Roland Block of Smyrna, Georgia, finished in a tie for
second with with an eight round score of 225, 63 under par. Block began the 1988
putting season with a 2nd place finish in the 1988
Commissioner's Cup tournament, held in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Frederick took home the 1st place prize of $3,000 while
2nd and 3rd place prize money was split between Parker and Block. Parker won a
