Steve Lange Wins
1978 PPA National Championship

Columbus, OH (PPA Course)Tall, red-bearded Steve Lange of Syracuse, N.Y., shot a 13 under par 23 during his sixth round to build a seven stroke lead over 2nd place finisher Bruce Kaiser of Cincinnati, OH, during the rain drenched and windy final rounds of the Professional Putters Association's 1978 National Championship. Kaiser picked up three strokes during the final two rounds, but could finish no better than 213, 75 under par, four strokes behind the 26 year old Lange, who finished the 144-hole tournament with a score of 209, 79 under par.

In the Amateur Division, Dennis Broderick of Rockville, MD, defeated Mark Coup of Columbus, OH, in an 18-hole playoff for first place after both men finished the regulation medal play, tied with scores of 223, 65 under par.
