Connor Takes First PPA Tournament
$2,000 Orlando Event

Orlando, FL - June 3-4, 1961 - Neil Connor, Greenville, S.C., walked away with first place money, $1,000, in Orlando today. Connor came up 5 strokes on his last 18 to overtake Bob Williamson, first 72 hole winner. Connor took a 251 on the 144-hole first PPA tournament of the 1961 PPA season.

Seventy-three putters from thirteen states participated in the Orlando Open. Next stop for the touring pros of America in the newest "putt for dough" Professional sport will be Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, June 10th for the first 72-hole of the 144-hole $3,000 PPA Southern Open.

Atlanta, GA - $3,000 PPA Southern Open

The second national PPA tournament will be held on the Putt-Putt Golf Course, 1829 DeLowe Drive, Atlanta, Georgia. Dick McGill, managing pro.

This tournament is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday, June 10 & 11. All pros are urged to be registered on Friday, June 9th as early as possible in the day.

Entry fees for this $3,000 Atlanta tournament are $6.00. If entry fees are submitted to the PPA Home Office, they must be received by 9:00 A.M. Friday, June 9th.

Atlanta Accommodations

The Atlanta tournament headquarters recommended accommodations are the Alamo Plaza Motel and the Town and Country Motel, both located on Stewart Avenue.

Mid-Week Tourney

The mid-week tournament in High Point, N.C. is set for 2:00 P.M., June 13th at the Putt-Putt Golf Course located at 2304 N. Main, High Point, N.C. Make plans to be at this $500 tourney on June 13th!
