McIntosh Wins $2,500 Montgomery, Alabama Tourney

1961 - A large gallery witnessed a first in the PPA
as Charles McIntosh made his debut as a tournament winner showing great
skill and stamina as he led the first days play and went on to hold his
lead for the second day to take first place money of $1,000 with a 246.
He tied the tournament record of 42 under par shooting 48 aces and 6
threes and the rest deuces for a 246.
Second place went to Daryl Freeman of Bristol,
Tennessee with a 247, 41 under par. This brings Daryl's total winnings
to $1,325 for the 1961 season. Third place was won by Ron Nixon of
Columbus, Georgia with a 251, 37 under par.
In the amateur division, Danny Culbreth of East
Point, Georgia and Rudy Jones of Meridian, Mississippi fought to a 278
tie. The first place tie was broken with a win by Danny Culbreth after a
playoff. He received a trophy for his efforts.

Baton Rouge, LA - $2,500 Baton Rouge Open
The next stop in the 1961 series of
PPA National Tournaments will be held on the Putt-Putt Golf Course
located at 8325 Florida Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Entry fee for
this tournament is $6.00. The recommended hotel is the Oak Manor Motel
which is located approximately 1/2 mile from the course on By-Pass U.S.
61, 65, 71, 190. Qualifying rounds will begin promptly at 2:00 P.M. All
pros must be registered prior to this time.
