Frank Holt Retains Leading Money Winner Title

Richmond, VA - 20 August 1960 - For the first time in the history of the Putt-Putt Professional Golfers Association, a playoff was held to determine top money winner, as Frank Holt, of Savannah, Georgia and Ron Nixon, pro from Columbus, Georgia finished the 108 hole route of the August 20th, 1960 $1,000 PPPGA tournament on the Putt-Putt Golf Course in Richmond, Virginia with an identical score of 192 each. In an additional 18 holes of play to determine top money man, Holt finished 2 up with a 30 for an aggregate of 222, with Nixon trailing with a 32, for a 224 total.

For first place, Holt won $500, bringing his 1960 earnings thus far in the circuit to a total of $4,096.66, leading money winner in the PPPGA. Nixon earned $250, bringing his total to $2,688.32 thus far in the season.

Third place money of $100 was won by Bob Williamson of Jacksonville, Florida, with fourth place of $50 going to Asheville, North Carolina pro, Vance Randall.

On August 27, the final tournament of the 14 tournament circuit for 1960 will be played on the Putt-Putt Golf Course in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Prize money will total $1,000, with top money being $500.

The 14th and final national PPPGA tournament of the 1960 season will be held on August 27, 1960 on the Putt-Putt Golf Course, at the Ft. Bragg Blvd. crossover, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Prize money will total $1,000, with top money of $500 going to the winner. Entry fees are $2.00 and qualifying rounds will begin promptly at 1 P.M.

If registering with the tournament director at the tourney site, all pros must be registered by 1 P.M., Friday, August 26. If registering through the PPPGA Home Office, registration forms must be received by 1 P.M., Thursday, August 18.

Plan now to be on hand for this final tournament of your 1960 PPPGA season.

It is recommended that all visiting pros register at the Betsy Ross Motel, U.S. 301 South in Fayetteville for the August 27th tournament. This motel features reasonable rates and extends a cordial welcome to you.
