Ronnie Slocum Winner of $1,000 Birmingham, AL Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, AL   …A newcomer to the PPPGA circuit, Ronnie Slocum of Columbus, Georgia, shot a 16 under par 200 for the 108 hole 216 par route in the Birmingham, Alabama PPPGA tournament on June 18. Frank Holt, promising pro from Savannah, Georgia whose earnings in the circuit had already netted him $1,350 prior to this $1,000 Alabama tourney, had to settle for third place this week and $100. Second place winner was Frank Reid of Atlanta, Georgia who shot a 201 good for $250 in prize money as he played in his first national PPPGA tourney of the summer season.

The next national tourney in the PPPGA $30,000 circuit will be held on the Putt Putt Golf Course, 4606 South Dale Mabry Street, in Tampa, Florida. This June 25th tournament is offering $2,000 in prize money.

Tampa, FL Next Tournament Stop

The fifth national PPPGA tournament will take place on the Putt Putt Golf Course, 4606 S. Dale Mabry Street, Tampa, Florida: Bill Hackert, managing pro.

This June 25th tournament will begin qualifying rounds promptly at 1 PM. Please register with the tournament director, Bill Kitchens, well in advance of this hour for starting times. All pros must be initially registered by 1 PM, Friday, June 24 if registering at the Tampa course. If entry form and fees are sent in to the PPPGA Home Office, they must be received by 1 PM, June 23rd.

Entry fees for this Florida tournament are $4.00. Total prize monies to be awarded are $2,000, with $1,000 as first prize.

The following motels have been recommended for out-of-town pros playing in the Tampa, Florida tournament. All are within close range of the course and feature reasonable rates:
